Friday Night Learning Session:
Digging Deeper in a Disney World

This colorful and engaging session explores the concept of digging beneath the surface. It covers the following concepts:
  • The Greeks were steeped in physicality and idolized shallow values, whereas Judaism encourages us to elevate physicality for more spiritual purposes.
  • We often judge people by their looks, and forget that there may be more beneath the surface.
  • The Torah teaches us to never take things at face value.
  • In order for relationships to be everlasting, they must be rooted in deep values, not just in shallow looks.
  • Judaism also teaches us to infuse our eating and our clothing with deeper purpose and meaning.
  • Underneath everything in this world is a deep spiritual meaning, just waiting for us to uncover it.

Beis Medresh Session:
Publicizing the Miracle of Chanukah (Peersumei Nissa)

Why is peersumei nissa (publicizing the Chanukah miracle) so important that a Jew must buy Chanukah candles, even if it means he will have no wine for Kiddush? This session explains how lighting the menorah serves to publicize the Chanukah miracle even to non-Jews, and reminds us to perform mitzvos with happiness.
Both an Advisor Copy and Teen Copy are included for this session.

Guest Speaker

We hosted Saul Blinkoff, a frum Disney animator, so there was a Disney element to the whole Shabbaton.
